Job description

We are recruiting a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 4 to 16 within a highly supportive specialist setting in Yeovil.

This role is available after Easter, with the potential to start full-time as soon as possible.

This setting is well-regarded for its inclusive, nurturing environment and strong team ethos.

Staff are supported to deliver high-quality care and education to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs.

The school places a strong emphasis on individual progress, emotional wellbeing, and building positive relationships that support long-term development.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with diverse learning abilities in both classroom and one-to-one settings

  • Assist with tailored learning activities and behaviour support strategies

  • Promote a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to meet individual needs

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development in pupils

 

Skills and Experience

  • Energetic, positive and patient approach

  • Ability to support children with a range of additional needs

  • Strong commitment to working Monday to Friday to ensure consistency for pupils

  • Previous SEN or school experience is beneficial but not essential

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
