Job description

Senior Teaching Assistant – SEN (Full-Time)
Yeovil, Somerset | Immediate Start

A highly respected specialist provision in Yeovil supporting children and young people aged 4–18 with complex needs. The school is known for its inclusive ethos, strong teamwork and commitment to helping every pupil achieve a meaningful and fulfilling future.

Pupils have:Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Significant communication needs and Complex physical, medical and behavioural needs

The school offers a structured, nurturing environment with excellent CPD opportunities and a strong focus on personalised learning and independence, including preparation for adulthood and supported work placements.

 

The Role

  • Full-time Senior Teaching Assistant (term time, 40 weeks)

  • Supporting pupils aged 4–18, including Post 16

  • Planning and delivering learning to individuals, small groups or whole classes under supervision

  • Mentoring and guiding other support staff

  • Supporting personal care, mobility and therapeutic programmes

  • Contributing to assessment, EHCP reviews and Personal Learning Goals

  • Supporting employability placements for older pupils

Training and ongoing professional development will be provided.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months childcare experience

  • Essential experience supporting children with SEN needs

  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)

  • Calm, resilient and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
