Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive specialist setting in Yeovil. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, supporting pupils aged 4–16 with a range of Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). The school is well regarded for its inclusive ethos, nurturing environment, and strong focus on helping every pupil reach their potential. Staff work collaboratively to provide personalised support, making it a rewarding environment for anyone passionate about SEN education.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils aged 4–16 with MLD and SLD

  • Assist the class teacher with engaging and differentiated activities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support

  • Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment

  • Encourage independence, communication, and social development

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about supporting SEN learners

  • Experience with SEN, care, youth work, or education is desirable

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Committed to making a positive difference in children’s lives

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
