Teaching Assistant – Specialist Education Setting – Dorset

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Dorset, supporting children and young people with special educational needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work as part of a supportive and experienced team, helping pupils to develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning within a safe and nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom

• Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities

• Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

• Supporting pupils with communication, sensory, and social needs

• Encouraging independence and helping pupils achieve their individual targets

• Working collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN environment

• Be patient, resilient, and adaptable

• Have strong communication and teamwork skills

• Be passionate about supporting children with additional needs

• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
