Job description

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a school in Poole who are looking for Teaching Assistants to join them ASAP or in September 2024.

The school caters for students between the ages of 7-16 who can not attend school due to medical needs or anxiety. They also cater for young people between the ages of 7-11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH). You will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students, helping them to succeed academically and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions to support student progress.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional well-being.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to ongoing assessments and reviews.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people facing challenges.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage challenging behaviours.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of our students and school community.
  • We are able to consider Teaching Assistants who can start now or in September 2024.

We are looking for Teaching Assistants who are seeking a permanent position.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
