Teaching Assistant

An all ages school in the South of Manchester will be looking for Teaching Assistant support in the new school year!

The School

This Outstanding rated school provides Education and Therapeutic support to children with a wide range of special needs including physical disability and medical needs.
Each class provides a curriculum relevant for the students abilities and needs and can include sensory play, soft play, music, exploration, drama, Art, ICT, P.E and of course Maths and English!
Students also study a number of holistic lessons such as outdoor education and food tech. 
Specialist therapists help students to progress with any specific difficulties they haver be that physical or communicative.

The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to get involved in all of the above!

The Role

You will be a general cover Teaching Assistant, supporting as and where needed in the school so you may work across all age ranges and support different abilities. You'll have the rewarding opportunity to get to know a number of students and help out in a variety of lessons and theraputic sessions.
It's important to have at least 1 years experience working with Special needs, whether that is in Education previously or in other areas such as Support Work.

As Teaching Assistant you will have some non-traditional responsibilities too, such as Moving and Handling, Personal Care and Administering Medication so preferably candidates should be trained in these areas.
Due to the students communication needs it would also be preferable for candidates to have training in alternative communications such as British Sign Language, Makaton or PECS.

Your rate of pay is GBP10 per hour, 8.30am-3.30pm Monday to Friday.
You must have a DBS which is update service registered or be happy to apply for one via Teaching Personnel.
