Graduate Teaching Assistant – Year 1 Classroom Support

Location: Gorton, Manchester
Start Date: After May Half Term
Contract: Full-Time (8:30am – 3:30pm), Term-Time Only

As a Year 1 Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with the class teacher to support pupils across all areas of learning, helping to nurture both their academic growth and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored, in-class support to pupils with varying abilities
• Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons
• Lead engaging small-group tasks and one-to-one intervention sessions
• Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
• Contribute to the wider school community and uphold its values

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

• Holds (or is completing) a university degree — ideally in an education-related field
• Has experience working with children (e.g. tutoring, volunteering, school placements)
• Is genuinely interested in progressing towards a teaching career
• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Is proactive, reliable, and passionate about supporting young learners
• Holds a Level 2 Safeguarding certificate — or is willing to complete one with us
