Graduate Teaching Assistant – Year 1 Support

Location: Gorton, Manchester
Start Date: After February Half Term
Contract: Full-Time (8:30am – 3:30pm), Term-Time Only

As a Teaching Assistant in Year 1, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils across all areas of learning, helping to nurture both their academic progress and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored in-class support to pupils with a range of abilities
• Assist the class teacher with planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons
• Lead small-group activities and one-to-one intervention sessions
• Help to maintain a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
• Contribute positively to the wider school community and uphold its values

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

• Holds (or is currently completing) a university degree—ideally education-related
• Has experience working with children (tutoring, volunteering, school placements, etc.)
• Is genuinely interested in pursuing a future career in teaching
• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Is proactive, flexible, and passionate about supporting young learners
• Holds a Level 2 Safeguarding certificate (or is willing to complete training with us)
