Job description

Teaching Assistant – Full Time
Location: Near Dibden Purlieu, Hampshire

An established and supportive specialist school, set within a spacious and well-resourced site on the edge of the New Forest, is currently seeking a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join its team. The school offers a calm, structured environment with extensive outdoor facilities, providing a unique setting in which to support young people in both their academic and personal development.

The setting caters for children and young people aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many pupils have experienced significant barriers to education, and some may present with challenging behaviour. Staff work closely together to provide consistent routines, clear boundaries, and nurturing support to help pupils build positive relationships and re-engage with learning.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Compassionate, calm and reliable

  • Experienced in supporting children or young people, ideally within an educational or care setting

  • Able to work proactively and flexibly as part of a dedicated team

  • Confident in managing behaviour with patience, empathy and appropriate strategies

The role will include:

- Supporting class teachers with behaviour management and developing regulation techniques in students

- contributing to the learning environment where students learn up to GCSE level

- Helping students 1:1 and in class to 

A current Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service is essential for this role, or you must be willing to obtain one at your own cost before starting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
