Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant – Full-Time, Term-Time Only (SEN Support)

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team on a full-time, term-time-only, permanent basis. About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching and learning across a broad curriculum. You will work closely with teachers to assist students—including those with SEN (Special Educational Needs)—ensuring they receive the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality classroom and learning support for students.

  • Assist teachers with planning, preparation, and delivery of learning activities for individuals, small groups, or whole classes.

  • Support students with SEN and additional learning needs, adapting support to their specific requirements.

  • Encourage independent learning and help students build skills, confidence, and resilience.

  • Build strong, positive relationships with students and create a supportive learning atmosphere.

  • Observe, assess, and record student progress using a range of methods.

  • Provide accurate and objective feedback to teaching staff.

  • Contribute to the overall vision, values, and improvement of the organisation.

  • Maintain professional conduct, consistency, and a student-focused mindset.

About You

To be successful in this Learning Support Assistant role, you will:

  • Have recent experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar educational role — OR relevant life experience working with young people aged 7+.

  • Have knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the national curriculum and strategies for supporting SEN learners.

  • Have experience working with children or young people in an educational or related setting.

  • Communicate effectively, with strong written and verbal skills.

  • Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and a positive approach to teamwork.

  • Be committed to helping students achieve high standards.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
