Teaching Assistant for Complex Needs in Northwood

This specialist school is for blind and partially sighted children with significant learning difficulties and disabilities aged 2 to 14. Based in Northwood, Middlesex, the school offer a safe and supportive environment that helps children achieve their full potential. The outstanding rating from Ofsted means that "the school are highly effective in delivering outcomes that provide exceptionally well for all our pupils' needs".
The Needs:
- Vision impairment
- Multi-sensory impairment
- Learning difficulties and disabilities
- Physical disabilities
- Communication difficulties
- Additional medical and health needs
You will be working 1:1 with a particular student with a visual impairment. You will be required to keep them engaged on the curriculum and track their academic progress as well as their mental wellbeing.
The Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have experience in any of the following:
- Braille
- Transcribing
- Supporting sensory needs
- Hands on signing or British Sign Language
It is the perfect role for a practitioner who is passionate about holistic, pupil-centred provision and committed to continual development of their practice.
