The role is to work from April 17th 2023 until Summer in the Year 1 and Year 2 class, Full-time hours 8:30am – 3:30pm. The successful candidate will be one who has good experiences working in lower primary years and someone who can use their own initiative to raise standards in Reading and Writing. The school are hoping to gain their best ever KS1 Reading and Writing results and to ensure they do this the Head teacher and SENCO have selected a number of children who would benefit from an intense booster programme. The successful candidate will be working with children aged 5-7 years. These children are mainly working at lower than expected age related levels for Reading and Writing. The majority of children in the two classes arrive from socially deprived backgrounds and have lttle academic support at home. There are some behavioural needs in the two classes and so it is important that you can use a range of strategies to ensure poor behaviour does not impact on learning and the development of the children’s Reading and Writing. The school are currently using Read Write Inc. as the primary phonics scheme for the KS1 children, the impact has been ‘positive’ according to the Head teacher. The members of staff in school have had several INSET training sessions centred around Phonics delivery and so the subject knowledge and pedagogy across school is second to none in the local area. The school is graded GOOD by Ofsted and within the report the Head teacher was commended for her ‘attention to detail’ and the ‘positive relationships she builds with the children, their parents and the staff in school’.
