Teacher of Drama for September to cover Maternity Leave

The school are looking for a fully qualified teacher of Drama to join them in September 2019 to cover a maternity leave until the usual post holder returns. Are you an experienced and ambitious teacher of Drama with an excellent track record of teaching and learning? You would be joining a team that is currently increasing the provision it offers making it a more dynamic and creative curriculum area for their students. The school are looking for a teacher that is not only committed to the attainment and learning of their pupils, but who is passionate about improving their own knowledge and who is reflective.

The successful applicant will be required to teach across the KS3 and KS4 curriculum programme. Experience teaching KS5 and/or another performing arts subject, although not essential is desirable. Despite being a temporary member of staff, you will play a pivotal role within the department and together with colleagues will continue the development of the provision for arts, more specifically in providing excellent creative opportunities for all.

The preferred candidate will:

  • Have experience assessing the ability of pupils and teaching the KS3/4 curriculum for Drama
  • Have excellent classroom management and be able to provide a safe and stimulating environment for all learners
  • Be able to help individuals to improve their practical knowledge and ability
  • Be able to promote a love for subject demonstrating its value in the real world
  • Support students and colleagues advising and preparing pupils for exams
  • Providing detailed and constructive feedback to pupils
  • Work collaboratively with the Performing Arts department
  • Support and help run school trips in order to offer a rich and engaging curriculum
  • Be a qualified teacher or further education qualified teacher
