Job Title: Design & Technology (DT) Teacher – Engineering Specialism
Location: Northumberland
Employer: Teaching Personnel
Salary: £140 - £260 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: April 2026
About the Role
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a skilled and motivated Design & Technology Teacher with a strong engineering background to work in one of our partner secondary schools in Northumberland. This is an exciting opportunity to bring real-world engineering knowledge into the classroom and inspire the next generation of designers, engineers, and innovators.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging DT lessons, with a focus on engineering principles, materials, and practical workshop skills across Key Stages 3 and 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality DT lessons with an engineering focus

Teach students about engineering principles, materials, systems, and processes

Prepare and support students for GCSE and/or BTEC examinations

Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment

Assess, monitor, and report on student progress

Contribute to the wider DT department and school community
Requirements
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (preferred but not essential for strong candidates with relevant experience)

Degree or professional background in Engineering, Design & Technology, or a related field
-
Experience teaching DT in a secondary school or relevant industry experience
-
Strong practical workshop skills and knowledge of health and safety
-
Passion for education and inspiring young people

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
