Teacher of Computing & Business Studies

Required for September 2020

Full time, permanent

The school based on the outskirts of Southampton considered to be a ‘good’ school in a recent ofsted inspection are recruiting for a teacher of Computing and Business Studies to join them from September 2020. With a ‘can do’ culture in the school, the Headteacher is looking to appoint a teacher who is inspiring and can encourage their students to achieve more than they ever thought was possible. The school has a real sense of community and their students enjoy their learning because of the teaching and supports staff ability to seek out student’s talents and help them to develop personal qualities and inner strengths. The ideal candidate will not only be exceptional in their subject but also immerse in the work the school does to produce good holistic outcomes for their students.

The computing department consists of 6 specialist teachers who work across 7 state of the art computing suites supported by a network manager and technicians. At KS3 all students follow the computing programme of study and in year 9 are given a taster of KS4. At GCSE, the department offers Computer Science and Business Studies at GCSE level and as well as Cambridge Nationals in Enterprise & Marketing and Creative iMedia.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a first degree in a Computing or Business or related subject
  • Have UK QTS
  • Have exceptional subject knowledge in Computer Science
  • Be innovative with your approach to teaching drawing on inspiration from an ever changing world
  • Be a team player, sharing best practice, recourses and make positive contributions to INSET days and departmental meetings/training.
  • Have good references from previous employers/placement schools
  • Be ambitious in your career showing a high level of dedication to students and your development alike.
