Teaching posts available for September in a well established Pupil Referral Unit based in Lewisham

This secondary PRU is looking to appoint up to two agency teachers who thrive when working with young people who have complex behavioural difficulties. The students have been excluded from mainstream education, and this specialist school aims to give them the best access to education that they can, whilst simultaneously working on their social, emotional and mental health development too.

You will be required to plan and to deliver lessons to classes with up to 7 students and one or two teaching assistants per class to support your lessons.

What the school is looking for:

• Maths, English, Science or Sports subject specialists
• Applicants must have QTS
• Previous experience of teaching in a PRU is desirable, although not essential if you can demonstrate capability of dealing with very challenging behaviour
• Teachers who are passionate about working with students who come from difficult backgrounds, and can deal with this accordingly
• Collaborative teachers, planners, communicators who are committed to raising attainment, attendance and engagement of students into further education, apprenticeships or the world of work

• Starting rates of pay from GBP120 - GBP170 per day

Your post will run from September to Christmas initially, however if you are successful and enjoy the job, you will be booked to continue for the full academic year, and you will be invited to apply for a permanent role with the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
