We are looking for an experienced support worker to work within a school for those with Profound and multiple learning difficulties aged 19-25. The school is the Further Education provision for a secondary school for those with similar needs.

The school was recently inspected by OFSTED and given a 'Good Rating'. It is based in the Worsley area of Salford is easily accessible by road and public transport.

The school operates in two halves. One class of no more than eight have severe needs. The goal of this class is to be taught basic skills, such as communication, emotional expression and how to be active in the community. Their instances of challenging behaviour due to the leaners needs, but you will be fully supported in all aspects of this by the wonderful and dedicated team within the provision.

In order to aid this section of the learners, the school has a wide range of facilities including a 'show flat' to teach skills in the home, such as organisation and cooking, which you as a Support Worker would be able to use when needed to assist the learners.

The other half of the provision is for those with more moderate needs such as ASC and Down's Syndrome. This class have much more emotional and communication intelligence and the approach for this class is to continue their character education while simultaneously providing opportunities to improve their employability and gain a career once they leave the provision.

Your role as a Support Worker would consist of aiding all leaners with their academic and social progression. This may take the form of classroom based learning, domestic learning or trips into the community.

The ideal support worker would have:

  • Experience of care or SEN environments
  • A dedicated and upbeat personality
  • Experience of supporting adults/older aged students

  • GBP9.50 an hour or above
