Support Staff - PRU

Date posted : 28/02/19
£54 - £60 per day

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

We are looking to register a candidate who has experience in areas such as youth work, social work and counselling to work in our educational provisions in the Tameside area.
Pupil Referral Units provide an alternative education setting to students who have been excluded from mainstream school due to them being unable to cope, due to SEMH needs.
Some of these students exhibit challenging behaviour, and find it difficult to concentrate and remain engaged within the classroom.
We are looking for somebody to support the children at these schools by helping them to manage their behaviour and have a more positive experience of the PRU, so that they can return to mainstream school.
A person with a knowledge of distraction techniques, de-escalation training (Team-Teach) and/or crisis management would be ideal to deal with the situations which may arise. The ideal candidate should also be able to mentor and advise them on a 1:1 basis about their needs to help them to progress personally and make the most of their education. To do this the person will need to be open and caring to help to create a secure environment, but resilient and patient when difficulties arise.

This type of role offers many challenges but the rewards are plenty and can be of huge benefit to the students.

Teaching Personnel can offer advise and training through our CPD academy if you are interested in becoming more suitably trained for this role.

If you are interested, please send a copy of your CV to annie.masters-
