Supply Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a part-time Supply Teaching Assistant to support pupils at a welcoming SEN school in Christchurch, starting September 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a part-time role with a genuine purpose—supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.


The Role:

As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Your role will focus on supporting learning, building confidence, and promoting emotional wellbeing, while ensuring a positive and inclusive classroom environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH needs

  • Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff

  • Assisting with learning activities and behaviour management

  • Promoting a safe, engaging and supportive learning environment

  • Offering encouragement and positive reinforcement


Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people (not essential but beneficial)

  • A calm, caring and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A willingness to undertake safeguarding and SEN training

  • A genuine passion for making a difference in children’s lives

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
