Study Supervisor

Cover Supervisor:  To start ASAP following the completion of safe recruitment checks

Teaching Personnel are seeking to recruit a graduate/sports coach/youth worker or someone who is suitably experienced to join our Cover Supervisors Team.  You will be responsible for the supervision of classes in the absence of the subject teacher and will also provide administrative and technical support to Heads of Departments.   

The role:

As a cover supervisor, you will be required to supervise pupils in the absence of their usual teacher delivering pre prepared exercises and to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set. Additional duties include managing the behaviour of pupils, responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures, reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising and collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.

• Understanding of the educational system and current developments
• Ability to motivate and to support learning

Additional skills and experience:

• Additional language skills to support our diverse student population
• Previous experience in providing literacy or numeracy support at Key Stage 3 or 4 will be a distinct advantage
• First Aid experience

Availability and hours:

Due to the high proportion of business we recieved, we are looking to recruit candidates who can offer 2 or more days per week for work. Permanent roles are expected to be 5 days per week, though you could look to work on an adhoc basis for 2 days a week or more with us. Working hours will be the usual school day, arriving around 8.30am and leaving when the pupils finish school around 3pm, though hours will differ slightly between each school. We are currently serving schools across the solent, with a large volume of work available in the Portsmouth area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.This will be a temporary position and may go permanent at a later date.
