Positions: Cover Supervisor/Teaching Assistant Jobs

Location: Hastings

Salary: £54 to £70 per day

We are currently seeking to appoint Sport Graduates to serve a cluster of mainstream schools in Hastings. The ideal candidates will have a background in sport whether that be a sport coach, graduate or professional. The role will initially start on an Ad Hoc basis, however there is potential for the requirement to turn in to a long-term position as cover supervisors are becoming more popular and in demand within schools.

Sport Graduates are well thought after and preferred within Secondary Establishments due to their diverse skills and interpersonal approach and background. Role and Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:

As a Cover Supervisor, your role and responsibilities will include:

  • Cover lessons in the absence of the timetabled teacher, supervising the delivery of the established cover work by effectively communicating the work set to students
  • Oversee the collection of resources needed in order to effectively deliver the covered lessons;
  • Assist in classes within a designated subject area, ie support delivery of subject lessons alongside the timetabled teacher
  • Secure and sustain an effective learning environment
  • Work with teachers to clarify teaching objectives in lessons, understand the sequence of teaching and learning the subject, and communicate such information to pupils
  • Seek guidance as appropriate on the choice of learning methods to meet the needs of their subject and of different pupils
  • Liaise with colleagues regarding individual learners' development and in rewarding positive behaviour

Qualifications Required

Teaching Personnel will consider applications from individuals who hold one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Post Graduate Degree/Certificate in Education
  • FE Lecturer
  • Experience of Cover Supervising

You will need to demonstrate that you have:

  • Experience of working with secondary aged children
  • The ability to manage groups of children and cope with challenging behaviour.
  • The ability to build good relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers
  • A knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Good reading, writing and numeracy skills
  • Good IT skills
