Sports Coach - Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) Support Provision

Location: Salford

About Us: Teaching Personnel is proud to partner with a leading Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) specialising in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our partnership aims to provide exceptional support and education to students who have become disengaged from mainstream education, including those from diverse backgrounds such as the care system.

Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Sports Coach. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with SEMH needs by promoting physical activity as a means of enhancing their mental health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging sports sessions tailored to the specific needs and interests of students within the SEMH provision.
  • Provide coaching and support to students of varying abilities, promoting inclusivity and participation for all.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment that promotes teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence among students.
  • Collaborate closely with other staff members to integrate physical activity into the broader curriculum and therapeutic interventions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of sports and physical activity programs on student well-being and progress, providing feedback as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and achievement related to sports activities.

Requirements:

  • Previous coaching experience, particularly working with young people with SEMH needs, is desirable.
  • Experience dealing with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management stratergies and a trauma informed approach.
  • A genuine passion for promoting physical activity as a means of enhancing mental health and well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond effectively to changing circumstances.
  • Relevant qualifications in sports coaching or a related field are advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
