Specialist SEN/SEMH Teacher (Higher Ability Focus) – Bedford

We are seeking an enthusiastic, qualified Secondary Teacher to join a highly regarded specialist provision in Bedford. This unique and impactful role involves leading a small class of high-ability students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), with a specific focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH), including a large proportion with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
The Opportunity

Lead a small class of higher-ability secondary students throughout their day-to-day curriculum.

Teach core subjects across multiple key stages, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Collaborate closely with a dedicated support team of three 2:1 Teaching Assistants (TAs) to implement Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Model and promote an empathetic, nurturing, and firmly managed classroom environment.

Manage behaviour capably while fostering a sense of success and belonging.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with:

Demonstrable experience working with students with SEN/SEMH needs in a secondary setting.

Significant experience and a deep understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is highly desirable.

A proven ability to manage complex classroom behaviours effectively and empathetically.
