Teaching Personnel are seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs. This role will be commencing April 2019 and is a full time, permanent role.
Our client school is a special needs school for pupils aged 2-16 with a wide range of needs. This includes moderate and severe learning difficulties, speech and language needs, autism and some medical difficulties.
All staff are committed to providing the best education for all pupils, providing a meaningful and motivating curriculum. The school's aim is to help all pupils become responsible citizens who can make a positive contribution to the community.
The school's staff team consists of staff with a range of expertise from highly skilled teachers, instructors and teaching assistants who are all committed to meeting the needs of all the pupils in their care. Teachers and instructors lead their class team through shared goals, which are informed, by parents and carers, therapist and a range of agencies. You will be welcomed into the staff team and will work closely will colleagues to deliver a differentiated curriculum. You will be confident adopting a 'holistic approach'; focusing on the development of the 'whole child' using a personalised, pupil-centered curriculum.
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant you will:
- Work under the direction of the class teacher, supporting pupils to access a differentiated curriculum, tailored to meet the specific needs of learners
- Be committed to supporting pupils' academic progress
- Promote independence
- Work with therapists and designated professionals to implement programmes to support individual's Physical, Sensory and Communication needs, such as Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Intensive Interaction
- Effectively manage behaviour and meet pupils Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
- Meeting pupils' personal care needs where necessary
