Functional Skills Tutor – Stafford

Location: Stafford
Hours: Part-time | Weekdays | School Hours
Pay: £25–£30 per hour (depending on the placement)

Are you an experienced Functional Skills Tutor with a passion for helping learners achieve their full potential?

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic tutor to deliver high-quality Functional Skills English and Maths tuition to students who need additional support. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by helping learners build confidence, develop essential skills, and achieve their educational goals.

The Role

As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Functional Skills lessons in English and/or Maths.
  • Adapt lesson plans and learning resources to meet individual student needs.
  • Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition.
  • Assess learner progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Create a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages confidence and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, parents, carers and other professionals where required.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH or additional learning needs is advantageous.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
