Functional Skills Tutor – Stafford
Location: Stafford
Hours: Part-time | Weekdays | School Hours
Pay: £25–£30 per hour (depending on the placement)
Are you an experienced Functional Skills Tutor with a passion for helping learners achieve their full potential?
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic tutor to deliver high-quality Functional Skills English and Maths tuition to students who need additional support. The Role
As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will:
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Functional Skills lessons in English and/or Maths.
- Adapt lesson plans and learning resources to meet individual student needs.
- Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition.
- Assess learner progress and maintain accurate records.
- Create a positive, supportive learning environment that encourages confidence and independence.
- Work collaboratively with schools, parents, carers and other professionals where required.
What We're Looking For
- Experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills English and/or Maths.
- A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent) is desirable.
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
- Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH or additional learning needs is advantageous.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
