Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Southampton and surrounding areas
Pay: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Term time only – Full-time & Part-time options

The Role

Teaching Personnel are seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join primary and secondary schools across the Southampton area. These positions involve supporting pupils with additional learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), and general learning difficulties.

As an LSA, you’ll play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom and small-group support for pupils with additional needs

  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation

  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual learning styles

  • Encourage independence and engagement in learning

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people (particularly those with SEN or additional needs)

  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently

  • Relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)

Job Details

  • Pay: £13.75 per hour

  • Contract: Term time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
