Learning Support Assistant – SEMH School (KS2–KS4)

Location: Marchwood
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time (with potential for permanent placement)

About the School

We are working with a well-regarded SEMH school that supports pupils aged 7–16 (KS2–KS4). The school provides a safe, nurturing environment where pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs can achieve their full potential. With small class sizes of around eight pupils, each student benefits from tailored attention and support.


The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour or come from care backgrounds. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a calm, structured learning environment that promotes positive relationships and emotional development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis

  • Promoting positive behaviour and acting as a consistent role model

  • Assisting with individual learning and behaviour plans

  • Building trust and rapport with pupils who need additional support


Requirements

  • Previous experience working with challenging behaviour and/or children in care

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • A valid Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

  • Availability to start as soon as possible

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
