Behaviour Support Assistant – Southampton & Surrounding Areas

Location: Central Southampton, Sholing and The New Forest
Start Date: Immediate start available pending completion of vetting
Contract: Full-time (long-term and supply opportunities available)
Hours: 8:30 or 9:00 AM start, finishing between 3:00 and 4:30 PM

Teaching Personnel, the UK’s largest education recruitment agency, is proud to offer the highest volume of work in the local area and is currently recruiting Behaviour Support Assistants to work with pupils who present with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and additional behavioural challenges.

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and SEN teams to support pupils who may display challenging behaviours, struggle with emotional regulation or require tailored interventions to help them engage positively with learning.

We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in care, medical, youth work or behaviour support

  • A calm, resilient and compassionate approach to managing challenging situations

  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

  • Individuals who are adaptable, energetic and reliable, and can start as soon as possible

  • Ideally a driver, or willing to travel using public transport

  • Must be seeking full-time work

Requirements:

  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

  • Ability to provide two years of work-based references

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
