Position: teacher of Sociology
Location: secondary school in Blackburn, Lancashire
Start date: April 2023
Contract length: maternity cover, initially two terms with the potential to extend
Accountable to: Head of Humanities
Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity for a committed and dynamic practitioner to join an Ofsted rated “outstanding” secondary school in Blackburn, Lancashire. The successful Sociology Teacher will be a team player who will ensure that all students receive an outstanding experience and that attainment continues to rise. You will have a strong commitment to exceptionally high standards of classroom practice alongside a genuine regard for exceptional progress and quality care for young people.
Roles and responsibilities:
ü Teaching of Sociology, including planning and preparing courses and lessons; setting and marking of work; and assessing, recording and reporting on development, progress and attainment.
ü Preparing pupils for public examinations, assessing pupils for the purposes of such examinations, recording and reporting such assessments and attending meetings connected with the conduct of public examinations.
ü Communicating and consulting with the parents of pupils, including the writing of reports and attendance at parents’ evenings and open evenings.
ü Maintaining good order and discipline among the pupils he/she is teaching.
ü Working as a member of a team in the shaping of Departmental policy and practice, introduction of curricular initiatives, the preparation and development of schemes of work, units of study and methods of teaching and assessment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
