SEND Teaching Assistant – Full Time – Budleigh Salterton

Location: Budleigh Salterton, Devon
Pay: £90–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time (Monday–Friday, term time only)

Start Date: Immediate or January 2026
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm (Monday to Friday, term time only)

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs? Teaching Personnel is looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Budleigh Salterton, East Devon.

The school supports pupils aged 3–19 with a variety of complex learning needs, including severe and moderate learning difficulties (SLD/MLD), autism (ASC), communication and interaction challenges, sensory and physical needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

This is a warm, inclusive and creative environment where every learner is supported to achieve their potential through personalised teaching, therapeutic input and practical learning experiences.

The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in helping pupils engage, learn and thrive. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs on a one-to-one or small group basis

  • Assisting the class teacher with engaging, accessible activities

  • Helping to implement individual education and behaviour plans (IEPs/IBPs)

  • Encouraging communication, confidence and independence in learners

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff

  • Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues

  • Reliable, flexible and enthusiastic about making a difference

Experience in a SEND or care setting is desirable but not essential – full training and ongoing support are provided through Teaching Personnel.
