SEN Teaching Assistant | Okehampton, Devon

Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Teaching Personnel’s partner school in Okehampton is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a difference in the lives of students with complex needs.

Job Details:

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-Time, Temporary to Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Pay: £100 - £200 per day (dependent on experience)

About the School:
Our partner school in Okehampton provides tailored education for students aged 5-19 with Autism, learning disabilities, communication challenges, and emotional/behavioural difficulties. The school focuses on promoting independence, confidence, and life skills through a holistic, child-centred approach to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support in the classroom.
  • Assist with individual learning plans and student development.
  • Support life skills development, including communication and emotional regulation.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and promote positive student engagement.
  • Provide pastoral care and emotional support to students.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure student's needs are met.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Passion for supporting SEN students.
  • Experience in education or care (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Adaptability to meet diverse student needs.
  • Calm and resilient approach in challenging situations.
