SEND & SEMH Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Roles | East Sussex
SEND and SEMH schools across East Sussex are currently looking for reliable, consistent individuals to support pupils who require additional help with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
These roles involve working closely with young people who may need more structure, patience and guidance to access education successfully. Schools are looking for staff who can bring a calm, steady presence into the classroom and build positive, professional relationships with pupils.
We are currently recruiting for Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and classroom support staff across a range of SEND and SEMH settings.
The Role
Depending on the school, responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Assisting with learning activities within the classroom
- Helping pupils regulate behaviour and stay engaged
- Working within clear behaviour and support frameworks
- Building trust and consistency with pupils
- Supporting teachers and wider staff teams
These roles can be challenging at times, but are also highly rewarding for individuals who enjoy making a difference.
Who This Role Suits
This type of role works well for individuals who:
- Are calm, patient and emotionally consistent
- Can build strong, positive relationships with young people
- Are confident setting boundaries and maintaining structure
- Have experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, sport, etc.)
- Are interested in developing experience within SEND or SEMH education
Previous SEND experience is beneficial but not essential. The right attitude and reliability are key.

Practical Information

- Pay: £89.38 per day
- A child-only enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required
If you do not currently hold one, you will need to apply for a DBS through us.
We will support you through the process, though the cost is covered by the applicant.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
