SEND & SEMH Roles Across East Sussex | Teachers & Support Staff

Good SEND education starts with people who understand that progress looks different for every young person.

I'm currently looking to connect with educators for a range of opportunities across specialist SEND and SEMH schools throughout East Sussex.

I'm not recruiting for one particular type of person or one particular school. The settings I work with are varied, the pupils have different needs, and the roles range from classroom support through to qualified teaching.

What I am looking for is good people who understand, or are willing to learn, what working within specialist education actually involves.

Before moving into recruitment, I spent several years working directly within SEND education myself. One thing that experience taught me is that the people who do well aren't necessarily those with the longest CV.

They're the people who are consistent. Who build relationships. Who can stay regulated themselves when a young person is struggling to regulate. Who understand that behaviour often communicates something, and who keep their expectations high without losing sight of the individual in front of them.

Previous SEND or SEMH experience is always valuable, but it isn't essential for every opportunity.

I've seen people successfully transition into specialist education from mainstream schools, care, youth work, mentoring, coaching and other roles involving young people.

For those without direct experience, I'm particularly interested in people who are patient, reliable, emotionally resilient and genuinely willing to learn.

Finding the Right Fit

This matters to me.

SEND settings can be incredibly different from one another, and somebody who thrives in one environment won't necessarily enjoy another.

Rather than just seeing your CV and sending it everywhere, I want to understand what you're good at, what you're looking for and what type of environment is likely to suit you.

That's better for you, better for the school and, most importantly, better for the pupils.

The Practical Stuff

• TA / LSA roles paid at £92.60 per day
• Qualified teaching roles paid to scale
• Access to CPD and ongoing support
• Enhanced child-only DBS registered on the Update Service required

If you don't currently have the required DBS, you'll need to apply for one through us and join the Update Service. The applicant is responsible for the cost.

Our safeguarding process also requires a full work/education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible. These don't have to be 24 continuous months with one employer; we'll aim to cover your most recent and relevant employment wherever possible.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
