Job description
SEND 1:1 Support Assistant (Full-Time) – with General TA Duties
Location: Crowborough, East Sussex
Start: Immediate (once fully online)
Hours: Full-time
Role Overview:
We are recruiting a full-time SEND 1:1 Support Assistant to work within a specialist provision in Crowborough. This role involves providing consistent, dedicated 1:1 support to a named pupil with SEND/SEMH needs, alongside supporting the wider class with general Teaching Assistant duties when 1:1 support is not required.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build experience in SEND education while making a meaningful impact on a pupil’s daily school experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide focused 1:1 support to a named pupil, following agreed learning and behaviour support plans.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship to support engagement, regulation and wellbeing.
• Support learning activities and routines to help the pupil access the curriculum.
• Assist with general TA duties within the classroom when not working 1:1.
• Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and support teams to ensure consistency of support.
• Contribute to a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
• Confident delivering consistent 1:1 support.
• Patient, emotionally aware and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Experience supporting SEND/SEMH needs is desirable but not essential.
• Reliable, committed and able to work full-time.
• Keen to learn and develop within a specialist education setting.
Safeguarding & DBS:
All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (child workforce) or be willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel. Candidates will be required to cover the cost of the DBS; however, this is a worthwhile step as it allows access to regular school-based work. Teaching Personnel will provide full guidance and support throughout the application process.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
