About the Schools

Teaching Personnel are supporting a family of specialist SEMH schools based in Thetford and surrounding areas. Each school provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom also have Autism, ADHD, or other communication and learning challenges.

These schools follow a trauma-informed, attachment-aware approach, ensuring staff receive specialist training and ongoing support. Teams work closely with families, local authorities, and external professionals to help every child achieve positive academic and personal outcomes.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced SENCO to work across three school sites, supporting children, staff, and families. You will be part of a regional leadership structure, reporting to the Executive Head and working alongside Heads of School, teaching teams, and other SENCos across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting teaching and learning across all sites, ensuring effective interventions for children with SEMH and SEND

  • Conducting observations, providing guidance, and giving actionable feedback to staff

  • Managing EHCP Annual Reviews, assessments, and Local Authority applications

  • Supporting children with complex needs, helping to overcome barriers to education and promote engagement

  • Collaborating with staff, parents, and professionals to develop inclusive, effective strategies for learning and behaviour

  • Being hands-on and solution-focused while maintaining a child-centred approach

This is a part-time role, ideal for an experienced practitioner seeking a leadership position within a supportive and expanding organisation.

The Right Person

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable but not essential

  • Has a relevant SENCo qualification (e.g., NASENCo / PGCert), or equivalent SENCO experience and willingness to complete the qualification within 2 years

  • Proven experience of effective teaching and supporting children with SEMH and/or SEND

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and emotional intelligence

  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice

  • Experience managing challenging behaviours and working with children with SEMH

  • Confident working with hard-to-reach or disengaged families

  • Ambition to contribute to a growing, child-focused, national organisation

Benefits

  • Competitive salary

  • Staff laptop and mobile phone

  • Access to extensive training and professional development opportunities

  • Small class sizes with specialist TA support

  • Flexible pension scheme

  • Enhanced occupational sickness scheme

  • Regular therapeutic and supportive supervision

  • Employee benefits platform including wellbeing support, high street vouchers, and lifestyle offers
