The school has a supportive and experienced SEN team and is home to a well-established Special Needs Resource Base (SNRB).

We are currently seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join the team from September 2025. This is a full-time role that will run for the academic year, with the possibility of extension or a permanent position for the right candidate.

About the School & the SNRB:

Although set in a mainstream secondary setting, the SNRB operates as a specialised learning environment for students with complex needs. The base supports pupils aged 11–16 who require a tailored approach to learning, often following a primary-style curriculum delivered by a team of specialist teachers and support staff.

Students within the SNRB present with a range of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges

The SNRB is fully integrated within the school community, and students are supported to access mainstream classes, extracurricular activities, and wider school life wherever appropriate.

Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional learning needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering one-to-one and small group interventions to help students overcome learning and emotional barriers
  • Working closely with the SNRB teaching staff to implement tailored learning strategies and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Supporting behaviour plans, promoting positive relationships and emotional regulation
  • Encouraging students to develop essential life skills, confidence, and independence
  • Facilitating integration into mainstream classes and supporting students’ participation in house activities, trips, and school events
  • Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to the wider SEN team to help track outcomes and adapt approaches
  • Contributing to the creation of a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued and supported

This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a passionate, collaborative team that goes above and beyond to provide the best educational experience for every child.
