SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently looking for SEN TAs to work in the LE4 area. Teaching Personnel are passionate about the value you can provide to our client schools and are determined to help you deliver this. We are also eager that you have an enjoyable and rewarding experience with us that sees you staying with Teaching Personnel for as long as your circumstances allow.

Responsibilties

  • Supporting schoolwork under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Preparing learning resources.
  • Encouraging children's confidence, self esteem and independence.
  • Helping children understand instructions, through repetition, re-phrasing or demonstrating.
  • Putting into practice individual education, social, behavioural and personal care programmes.
  • Encouraging children to communicate with one another and with staff.
  • Providing feedback and assistance to teachers.
  • Supporting children in social activities and on outings.
  • Assisting children during therapy sessions.
  • Recognising signs of distress in children and offering reassurance.
  • Attending to pupils' physical needs.
  • Completing records. 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience with SEN pupils but not essential
  • Have previous experience working with children
  • Have a DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
  • A GCSE in English and Maths
  • Calm and patient approach when working with children
  • Have proven ability to work as a team
  • maintain, form and develop strong professional relationships within our learning community
  • Show a high level of commitment to, and enthusiasm for, the role
  • Have energy, flexibility and drive
  • Have high expectations for themselves and their pupils
