SEN Teaching Assistant

A well respected Secondary school located in Wigan wish to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant to work within their inclusion provision from Easter 2019.

Due to an increase in pupils transitioning from Primary school with Education Health Care Plans this academic year, the SEN department require additional support from an SEN Teaching Assistant to cater effectively to each pupil's needs.

This position will be offered on a full time temporary basis for the remainder of the academic year, once the student's requirements have been readdressed, the appointed SEN Teaching Assistant has the opportunity to gain a fixed term contract.

Requirements for this position include;

*NVQ/CACHE/Degree relating to working with Children and Young People *Experience supporting SEN (ASC/ADHD/SEMH/MLD) *Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies

The role;

*Supporting pupils both in class and within the Inclusion unit *Working alongside the SENCO to track progress and attainment *Providing guidance with academic, social and emotional requirements *Effectively managing behaviour and recording incidents

The mixed comprehensive Secondary school currently caters for around 900 pupils. In order to support identified pupils, the school have a large on-site inclusion unit where pupils can complete work, receive mentoring and counselling, or spend some time relaxing when agitated.

Located in Wigan the school is just a short drive away from the Centre of Wigan and borders Bolton. The proportion of disadvantaged students and those supported by the pupil premium is above the national average. Pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported and most make good progress within the school.
