Exciting Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently recruiting for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a highly regarded secondary school in Wilmslow. The school boasts an Ofsted rating of 'Good' and is renowned for its inclusive approach to education.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the assistance required to thrive academically and socially. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Individualized Support: Working closely with SEN students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, providing targeted assistance with their learning activities and helping to overcome any barriers to their progress.

  2. Implementing Support Strategies: Collaborating with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored support strategies for SEN students, ensuring their individual needs are met effectively.

  3. Assisting in the Classroom: Supporting classroom teachers in delivering lessons and adapting teaching materials to accommodate the diverse learning styles and needs of SEN students, fostering an inclusive learning environment.

  4. Behaviour Management: Utilizing positive behavior management techniques and strategies to support SEN students in managing their emotions and behaviors effectively, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere within the school.

  5. Building Relationships: Developing strong relationships with SEN students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open communication channels to ensure the holistic support needs of students are addressed comprehensively.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with SEN students, preferably within a school or educational setting.
  • Sound understanding of various special educational needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech and language disorders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with diverse needs and challenges.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing demands of the role and the individual needs of SEN students.

  • Competitive salary ranging from £1540 to £1900 per month, dependent on experience and qualifications.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
