SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity in Wilmslow

Teaching Personnel is delighted to offer a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted Good secondary school in Wilmslow. This important role focuses on providing support to students with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive in a supportive learning environment. The position is full-time, starting after Easter and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for permanent placement based on performance. The salary for this role ranges from £1540 to £1900 per month.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum, participate in classroom activities, and achieve their full potential. Working closely with SENCOs, teachers, and other support staff, you will provide individualized support, guidance, and encouragement to students with a range of needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide one-to-one support to students with SEN, assisting them with classwork, assignments, and activities, and helping to develop their academic and social skills.
  • Small Group Work: Facilitate small group activities and interventions, targeting specific areas of need and promoting peer interaction and collaboration.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement positive behaviour management strategies to promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment, helping students to develop self-regulation and social skills.
  • Communication: Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers, and external professionals to share information, provide updates on student progress, and contribute to the development and review of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Resource Preparation: Prepare and adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students with SEN, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and track student progress, collect data, and provide feedback to inform teaching and support strategies, interventions, and individualized support plans.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or education (desirable but not essential).
