Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant with a degree in psychology to join one of our client secondary schools and their dedicated team at a mainstream secondary school in Stockport. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide additional support to students with special educational needs (SEN), helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

This will be a full-time role, due to begin ASAP.

Throughout this role, you will earn a competitive salary between £385 and £450 per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 support to students with special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom
  • Assisting the class teacher with group activities and lessons, ensuring that all students are able to participate fully.
  • Helping to create and implement tailored learning plans for students with SEN, in collaboration with teachers and other support staff.
  • Supporting students with personal care tasks, as required
  • Providing feedback to teachers on student progress and any concerns that may arise.
  • Contributing to the development of IEPs (Individual Education Plans) for students with SEN.
  • Liaising with parents and external agencies to ensure a consistent approach to supporting students with SEN.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment at all times.

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in psychology (or related subject) from a reputable university
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or supportive setting.
  • A strong understanding of SEN and the challenges faced by students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
  • A patient, empathetic, and compassionate approach to working with young people.
  • An understanding of safeguarding best practices in schools
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and learning
  • A current DBS check (or willingness to undertake one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
