Job description

Experienced Teaching Assistant – SEN Unit (Full-Time) | Southampton

Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with special educational needs? We are looking for a committed professional to join one of our Specialist SEN units based within mainstream schools in Southampton.

This full-time role offers the opportunity to work closely with children who require tailored support to access the curriculum and thrive in an inclusive setting. You’ll be an integral part of a supportive team, helping to implement personalized learning plans, adapt resources, and provide the nurturing environment our pupils need.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant within an SEN environment

  • A strong understanding of a variety of special educational needs and strategies to support learning and development

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to meet individual pupil needs

  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills

  • A proactive approach to contributing ideas and adapting to the evolving needs of pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
