Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Are you interested in supporting children and young people with SEN?
Are you a bright and engaging applicant with a desire to help children with SEN learn, grow and achieve but possibly don't have much experience in this field?
At Teaching Personnel we provide a specialist SEN service whereby we support the needs of pupils with SEN in local schools. Although our schools value TA's with SEN experience, we work with a number of SEN schools who value a keen, proactive and supportive candidate who is willing to learn and has a passion for SEN. (*Candidates without experience in SEN who apply will be subject to a pre-registration interview / call whereby we will assess your suitability to the role. You will be asked questions about your desire to work in a school and why you believe you are suited to working with young people with SEN - Remember: We want you to be passionate!)
Our schools caters for pupils with PMLD, ASC, SLD and Complex Medical Needs. You will ideally have experience in this area and if not, you must have a strong desire to make a difference to the lives of children who require a high level of support. This support will include toileting, feeding and changing, as well as full classroom support. You must be proactive and engaging, with a fun and upbeat personality, and the ability to think on your feet / work on your own initiative.
The role of an SEN Teaching Assistant can be demanding and challenging at times, given the severe needs of some of the students, however it is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling job roles if you have a passion for working with young people who require that extra level of care and support. We are therefore looking for a special type of candidate who has the ability to not only create a safe and warm learning environment but who can engage the young people through varying means including sensory activities, learning through play, hydrotherapy and outdoor education.
Some of the young people may exhibit challenging behaviours and you must therefore be confident in dealing with these behaviours if you wish to be considered.
The working hours will be 8:30 - 3:30, Monday - Friday, term time only.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
