About the Role:
Role – Year 3 teaching Assistant
Start Date – September 2026
End Date – July 2027
Working Hours – Monday to Friday (8:30am–3:30pm)

We are working with a friendly and supportive 2 form entry primary school in Cardiff that is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Year 3 team. The school has a diverse, multicultural community with a high number of pupils who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL). Staff are passionate about creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, supported and able to achieve their full potential.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers and supportive colleagues, helping pupils to develop both academically and socially. You will support whole-class learning, work with small intervention groups, and provide targeted support to pupils who may benefit from additional guidance, including those developing their English language skills.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with classroom learning through whole-class, small group and one-to-one activities.
- Work closely with the class teacher to prepare learning resources and classroom materials.
- Deliver targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy and language development where required.
- Provide additional support to pupils with EAL, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence in their communication skills.
- Foster a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment where all children can thrive.
- Supervise pupils throughout the school day, including break and lunchtime where required.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote pupils' independence, confidence and wellbeing.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting children's learning.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential.
- Experience working with primary-aged children in either a professional or voluntary capacity.
- An understanding of, or interest in, supporting children with English as an Additional Language (EAL) would be advantageous.
Essential Criteria:
- Enhanced Child Only DBS Certificate (your Teaching Personnel consultant can assist with this).
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
- Ability to provide professional references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
