Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Cardiff)

Location: Cardiff
Pay: £92.63 per day
Start Date: October 2026
Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm
Position: Full-time

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in central Cardiff. The successful candidate will work within a Nursery/Reception class, providing valuable support to both the teacher and pupils.

You will work with children with a range of needs and abilities, helping to create an inclusive and positive learning environment where every child has the opportunity to develop and succeed. The role will involve general classroom support, working with small groups and, where required, providing 1:1 support to individual pupils.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general classroom support to the teacher and pupils.
  • Support children with their literacy and numeracy development.
  • Deliver learning interventions to individuals and small groups.
  • Identify individual pupils’ needs and provide appropriate additional support.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support children with a range of abilities and learning needs.
  • Assist pupils who may have English as an Additional Language (EAL).
  • Contribute positively to the wider classroom and school environment.

About the School

The school is located in the centre of Cardiff and is looking for an energetic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its friendly and supportive team.

The school welcomes new ideas and teaching approaches and is seeking someone who can bring a positive attitude, enthusiasm and commitment to the classroom. Due to the diverse nature of the school, you may work with pupils who have EAL or who require additional support with their behaviour and learning.

Requirements

  • An Enhanced DBS check (Child Only) must be completed before starting the role. Teaching Personnel can support you with this process.
  • EWC registration is required, as this is mandatory for working in education in Wales.
  • Previous experience working with children, either professionally or personally, is desirable.
  • A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach to working with young children.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Confidence supporting children with different needs and abilities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
