Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: South East England, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes

Job Type: Temporary, expected to work Full-Time hours

Job Description:

Job Duties:

  • Supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their learning and development
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons for SEN students
  • Providing one-on-one support to students who require additional help
  • Helping students with personal care and mobility needs
  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
  • Collaborating with other professionals, parents, and external agencies to support the holistic development of SEN students

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Relevant experience working with children or individuals with SEN
  • Understanding of SEN support strategies and interventions

Education:

  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 TA Certificate)

Experience:

  • Prior experience working in a school or educational setting
  • Experience supporting students with SEN

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good understanding of SEN practises and principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Patience, empathy, and a caring attitude towards students with SEN

Preferred Qualifications:

  • First Aid certification
  • Makaton or PECS training

Working Conditions:

  • Work is predominantly indoors within a school setting
  • May involve assisting students with physical disabilities or medical needs
  • Full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional additional hours for meetings or events

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
