1:1 Teaching Assistant – Autism Support (Mainstream Primary)
Start Date: April 2026 | Hours: Full Time (Term Time)

Are you passionate about making a real difference to a child’s school experience? We are delighted to be supporting one of our wonderful mainstream primary schools in recruiting a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support an autistic child from April 2026.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring, patient and committed individual who enjoys building strong relationships and providing tailored support to help a child feel safe, supported and confident within the school environment.

About the role:

  • Working 1:1 with an autistic child within a mainstream primary setting

  • Providing consistent emotional, social and academic support throughout the school day

  • Supporting access to the curriculum through differentiated activities

  • Using visual supports, routines and positive behaviour strategies

  • Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement in learning

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider school team

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children with Autism / SEND (school-based or transferable experience considered)

  • Is calm, nurturing and patient in their approach

  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with children

  • Is confident supporting emotional regulation and communication needs

  • Is reliable and committed to a long-term role

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
