Learning Support Assistant – Specialist Education Setting

Location: Farnborough, Hampshire
Hours: Full-time | Term time
Pay: £13.75 per hour | Temp to perm, with a salaried role available

We are seeking a committed and capable Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting in the Farnborough area. This is a full-time, term-time position supporting older primary to early secondary-aged pupils with moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, complex needs and autism.

The school provides a structured, calm and nurturing environment, with a strong emphasis on consistency, communication and personalised support. Pupils benefit from high levels of adult guidance to support their learning, independence and wellbeing.

This role would particularly suit an experienced Learning Support Assistant; however, applicants with relevant transferable experience from childcare, care, health or support-based roles are also encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing consistent in-class and individual support to pupils with MLD, SLD, complex needs and ASC

• Supporting pupils with communication, independence and engagement in learning

• Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team

• Promoting a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

• Contributing to the implementation of individual support plans

Person specification:

• Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant is highly desirable

• Alternatively, relevant experience working with children or young people in a care or support capacity

• A calm, patient and professional approach

• A genuine interest in supporting pupils with complex learning needs and autism

• Reliability, resilience and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Safeguarding

All applicants must hold an Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one, in line with safeguarding requirements.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
