SEMH Teaching Assistant
Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit part time and full time Teaching Assistants for SEMH TA positions in the Canterbury area.
Our client school are a learner centred, education driven setting with outstanding facilities, focused on creating the best learning environment possible for all learners and young people. The aim of the school is to support all young adults and learners through their education, no matter what SEMH barriers they may face.
The Role will be as follows…
• Working within small groups of learners in the classroom setting, supporting each child throughout the lesson.
• Supporting each learner with their academic progress in each lesson, whether that is to re-engage them after coming off-task or sitting with them when solving a maths problem.
• Contributing and supporting the class teacher in maintaining and controlling pupil behaviour throughout the lesson, if needed, enforcing the behavioural discipline system.
• Communicate with Managers/Behaviour Manager regarding pupil behaviours throughout the day and contributing/supporting any serious incidents taking place.
• Ensure all the groups work is finished, filled and organised ready for the next lesson to help keep track of pupil progress and engagement levels.

• Able to implement behaviour management strategies
• Previous experience working with SEMH/BESD students and dealing with challenging behaviour/classroom support.
Requirements:
• DBS on the update service (We can advise on this)
• Team Teach Certificate (Preferred)
• Knowledge surrounding child safeguarding (Preferred)

• You must have legal right to work in the UK
Teaching Personnel work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
