Teaching Assistant – SEND Support (Primary)

Location: Blyth
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time
Start Date: ASAP / Negotiable
Salary: competitive

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a nurturing primary school committed to inclusive education and the wellbeing of every child.

About the Role:

You will work closely with class teachers and the SEND team to support pupils with:

  • Significant speech, language and communication needs
  • Learning difficulties
  • Behavioural and emotional regulation challenges

Your role will be to:

  • Provide targeted support in class and in small group or 1:1 setting
  • Help pupils access the curriculum and build key skills
  • Foster positive relationships and emotional wellbeing
  • Use strategies tailored to individual needs, as guided by specialists (e.g. SALT, EPs)

About You:

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, compassionate, and resilient
  • Proactive and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
  • Experienced (or strongly interested) in working with children with SEND
  • A strong communicator with both children and adults
  • Able to work well within a team and take initiative when needed

Experience in Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies is a plus – but not essential. We offer training and ongoing support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
