SEN Teaching Assistant

An established and growing Secondary School in Bedford is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their on-site SEN department from September.

Start Date: September 2024 or sooner

Employment Type: Full Time, Temporary to Permanent (permanent contract offered after 12 term time weeks)

Location: Bedford

Salary: £95-£110 per day, depending on experience

Job Description: This mainstream Secondary School in Bedford is easily accessible from Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Northamptonshire. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to support a diverse range of students with additional learning needs or disabilities aged 11 - 16 years, including Autism, ADHD, LD, EBD, SEMH, and Physical Disabilities.

We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic and dedicated individual who is passionate to become part of a valued support staff network in the School. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the future of the school and inspire confident, independent, and forward-thinking pupils for a future of success. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead teacher in developing and delivering engaging lesson plans that cater to the individual needs of students.
  • Provide one-on-one attention and guidance to support students on their learning journey.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and encouraged.
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support to maintain a focused and respectful learning environment.
  • Contribute to planning and organising classroom activities, educational outings, and school events.
  • Provide regular feedback and updates to teachers and parents on student progress and achievements.

Ideal Candidate

  • Prior experience in a Pastoral or SEN Teaching Assistant role.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a Primary or Secondary school.
  • Good knowledge of Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Dedicated to helping students succeed in education.
  • Ability to engage well with students (Year 7 to Year 11) and maintain a calm presence.
  • Committed to ensuring all students achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the values, ethos, and development of the school.
